PHYGITAL FX Named Exclusive Equipment Provider for Wildflower Studios—Backed by Robert De Niro

PHYGITAL FX to be the official equipment provider to massive new facility that will bring relief to NYC's studio desert

Two New Yorkers are teaming up to do something special. PHYGITAL FX, headquartered in Yonkers, NY, received the contract to be the exclusive production equipment provider for Wildflower Studios. Wildflower is a project of lifelong New Yorker Robert De Niro, along with his son, Raphael, and real estate developer Adam Gordon. The self-contained campus in Astoria, Queens is a 760,000 square foot facility composed of 11 combinable soundstages. It will cater to television and film and offer space for crews from pre- through post-production.

Outfitting every project that comes into Wildflower Studios for what they need will be the responsibility of PHYGITAL FX. They are the exclusive provider for grip, lighting, electrical, and other equipment rentals. To facilitate handling the high volume of inventory, the company will have its own space at Wildflower’s complex to support the studios and clients, as well as an additional warehouse nearby.

“We are incredibly honored to be chosen for this project,” said Mario Sousa, PHYGITAL FX’s CEO. “The De Niros and Mr. Gordon know what it takes to put on an exceptional production. Part of that is the technical equipment, but another factor is the people. We’ll be handling both. It’s proof Wildflower has a lot of trust in PHYGITAL FX, and we’re excited to show them we are up for the challenge.”

Wildflower’s location is no accident. It will be NYC’s only high-performance, purpose-built TV and film production facility—something the city was sorely lacking. PHYGITAL FX, which operates worldwide but supports many projects in the tristate area, is thrilled a change is coming to this studio desert. “Being neighbors, PHYGITAL FX and Wildflower have the same goals in mind,” said Sousa. “We both want to see this region’s productions grow and the industry flourish. We think this partnership will be a big step in that direction.”

Wildflower Studios is set to open July 2024.
